Research

The first thing you'll need to acknowledge if the information and perspectives discussed here are going to be beneficial to you is this: research is God's gracious gift to us as people living in a broken world.

When the fall happened, we fell far away from God's original design for how we were supposed to live. As a graduate with a degree in counseling, with specific training in working with relationships, I've noticed how much the fall has impacted our relationships with one another. What should come naturally to us, no longer does, because sin has tainted God's designed for relationships. I've noticed this especially in parent-child relationships.

What role does research play? Research is informative, not prescriptive. This means that it should not contradict scripture, it should support it and help us better understand it. If something in research seemingly contradicts what we are told in God's word, that should push us to study, pray, and dive deeper into what God is trying to teach us through His word. I believe that what we learn from research allows us to live just a little bit closer to God's original design for relationships until we can live according to His design fully in heaven.
