About

Hi there! I'm Abi.
I became a wife during the 2nd year and a mom during the 3rd year of my counseling program at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. If you know anything about becoming a counselor, specifically at UMHB, you'd know that's a daring thing to do. This counseling program is like therapy on steroids. Those life events can already be a tough transitions by themselves, let alone when you're in the middle of a character-refining pot.
Now that I'm on the other side of graduation, I see how much the Lord used all of those experiences, specifically in combination with my counseling program, to mold me to fulfill so many roles in a much more beautiful way. I'm a better Christian, wife, mom, therapist, and friend because of those experiences.
My journey to becoming a therapist has had such a huge impact on my perspective of parenting. I've learned so much that I know has helped me make more confident decisions as a mom, that has helped my husband and I make more informed decisions together as we think about the type of family we want to raise. I've noticed that not many parents have this luxury, or know about all the resources available, especially in the Church. There is such a gap between modern research and Christian faith that needs to be bridged. It's hurting our hearts and minds and it's causing such division in our relationships.
